Soccer Game Preview: Marlborough vs. Valley Christian

The Marlborough Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Valley Christian Defenders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlborough's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Friday, Marlborough didn't have quite enough to beat Immaculate Heart and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with Maranatha on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Minutemen onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Defenders' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matchups.

Valley Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those eight contests. As for Marlborough, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Everything went Marlborough's way against Valley Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as Marlborough made off with a 6-1 victory. Will Marlborough repeat their success, or does Valley Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
