Soccer Game Preview: Golden Valley vs. El Capitan

The Golden Valley Cougars will head out to challenge the El Capitan Gauchos at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Golden Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Merced 2-1. The Cougars found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Jaiah Wright and Madisen Hutchings were both handed yellow cards.

Samantha Olmos-Salas and Ava Briceno scored both of Golden Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, El Capitan kept a clean sheet against Buhach Colony on Wednesday. They skirted past the Thunder 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gauchos.

Golden Valley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7-1. As for El Capitan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5-2 record this season.
