Soccer Game Preview: Steele Canyon vs. Santana

The Steele Canyon Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Santana Sultans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Steele Canyon's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Steele Canyon is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mater Dei Catholic on Monday. Steele Canyon fell just short of Mater Dei Catholic by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Santana was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Classical Academy could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Santana's draw makes their record 1-4-1 this season. As for Steele Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3-2 record this season.

Steele Canyon skirted past Santana 1-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steele Canyon since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
