James Johnson of Douglas County is the Georgia High School Football Player of the Week

Junior receiver and defensive back had monster performance in big win over Langston Hughes.

After receiving more than 9,500 votes, James Johnson, Douglas County (Douglasville) has earned MaxPreps Georgia High School Football Player of the Week.

The 6-foot, 185-pound junior had two rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown and 10 tackles in 30-27 win over Langston Hughes. Johnson is a hot commodity on the recruiting trail with 24 scholarship offers.

Here are the rest of this week's candidates, who collectively garnered more than 8,000 votes:

Tyler Atkinson, Grayson (Loganville): Five-star sophomore linebacker had 16 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 40-0 win over Lowndes.

K.J. Bolden, Buford: Five-star Florida State commit had two receiving touchdowns in 30-3 win over Marietta.



Fred Brown, Coffee (Douglas): Senior running back rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns in 21-0 win over Richmond Hill.

Jarrett Brown, Harvester Christian Academy (Douglasville): Junior quarterback threw two touchdowns and rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns in 34-0 win over Cross Keys.

David Eziomume, North Cobb (Kennesaw): Senior Clemson commit had 325 rushing yards with four touchdowns in 42-27 win over Milton.

Ricky Johnson, Houston County (Warner Robins): Senior wide receiver had seven receptions for 113 yards and three touchdowns in 41-7 win over Warner Robins.

Aaron Philo, Prince Avenue Christian (Athens): Senior Georgia Tech commit completed 66 percent of his passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns. He added a touchdown and 71 yards on the ground in the 56-20 win over Pensacola Catholic.

Cam Robinson, Mill Creek (Hoschton): Senior running back rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns in 30-20 win over No. 6 Parkview.



Landen Thomas, Colquitt County (Norman Park): Senior Florida State commit had four catches for 73 yards and a touchdown while adding two scores on the ground in a 50-42 victory over Cedar Grove.
