Softball Game Recap: Central Gwinnett Black Knights vs. Mill Creek Hawks

Central Gwinnett extended their losing streak to 13 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-18. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Mill Creek Hawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on September 2nd.

As for Mill Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Mill Creek's part, Carsen Faber made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Faber a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

In other batting news, Mill Creek got a massive performance out of Laila Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Torres a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashlin Ilczyszyn, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

While Central Gwinnett had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
