Hickory extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 8-1. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Lincoln Mustangs, sneaking past 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Tornadoes have posted since December 6, 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Lincoln fell to 8-1. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, East Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Grant Lawless, who threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 43 yards. Another player making a difference was Tyson Maggs, who picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hickory is set to face off against their familiar foe Bandys at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, East Lincoln will square off against rival Maiden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 880 yards in their previous games.
