Soccer Game Preview: Cherokee Bluff vs. Gainesville

The Cherokee Bluff Bears will head out on the road to take on the Gainesville Red Elephants at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee Bluff is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Cherokee Bluff didn't have quite enough to beat Oconee County and fell 4-3. While losing is never fun, Cherokee Bluff can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Oconee County are ranked 52nd).

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Gainesville was a bit more limited in their match last Thursday. They lost 5-0 to Milton.

Cherokee Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Gainesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Cherokee Bluff beat Gainesville by a goal in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
