Marshall extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-15. They lost 14-4 to the Richland County Tigers. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 13-12 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Reed Ramey was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Shane Tarble made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Player #22 was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
As for Richland County, they now have a winning record of 12-11. Considering they have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Marshall, Richland County also got a great game from a two-way player: Brody Redman. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Redman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Richland County let Nolen Seals and Cooper Hires run wild. Seals went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Hires got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Hires continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Snider, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Marshall has already played their next matchup (against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Richland County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Paris on the 11th.
