Preview: Tustin Tillers vs. Costa Mesa Mustangs
The Tustin Tillers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on December 28th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Tustin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. Their2023 ended with a 52-38 loss against Dana Hills. While losing is never fun, Tustin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Dana Hills is ranked 109th).
Meanwhile, Costa Mesa's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Norco at home by a decisive 39-22 margin.
Tustin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Costa Mesa, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-9.
Everything came up roses for Tustin against Costa Mesa in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 58-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tustin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
