Softball Recap: Eagle's Landing Drops Highest Score of Season Against Stockbridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle's Landing). They were the clear victors by a 25-6 margin over the Stockbridge Tigers on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Kyleigh Cowains made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Cowains was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lynette Herring was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Cayla Bailey was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.

Eagle's Landing was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stockbridge only posted a batting average of .227.

The victory was the third in a row for Eagle's Landing, bringing their record up to 4-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Stockbridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle's Landing will challenge Jonesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stockbridge, they will take on Jones County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
