Basketball Recap: Emily Huddleston's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Valley over Anderson

West Valley was the 57-38 winner over Anderson when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West Valley Eagles fell 45-37 to the Anderson Cubs on Tuesday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Huddleston, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points and four steals. Allie Enyart was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, West Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 52 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Taylor Ford continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Anderson, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Ford has become a key player for Anderson: the team is undefeated when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 9-10 otherwise. Renna Shriner also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

West Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-9. As for Anderson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-10.

West Valley will face off against University Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Anderson, they will take on Yreka at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
