Recap: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Great Oak Wolfpack

The Temecula Valley Golden Bears lost against the Great Oak Wolfpack back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Temecula Valley falling 53-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Great Oak: they've now lost five in a row.

Temecula Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Karlee Wellonen and Audrey Pollack. Wellonen dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Pollack scored nine points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wellonen has scored all season.

Great Oak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bri Thomas led the charge by scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Kayla Martin, who scored 12 points.

Temecula Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Great Oak, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Temecula Valley will take on Murrieta Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Murrieta Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Temecula Valley likes a good challenge. As for Great Oak, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Murrieta Mesa at 5:30 p.m. Murrieta Mesa is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
