Football Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 52-6 loss at the hands of the Kiowa County Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 70-24 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Matthias Bair threw for 56 yards and one touchdown. Aiden Becker was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards. On the ground, Payton Becker rushed for 34 yards.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Kiowa County, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on Meade at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunderbirds will need to watch out since the Buffaloes have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups. As for Kiowa County, they will square off against Kinsley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
