Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Mullen

Mullen strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Doherty Spartans with a sharp 18-6 win. Fans of the Mustangs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Kory Abbott and Maize Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Abbott went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple, while Jackson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Haddie Slucki, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Mullen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The last time their batting average was this high was back in August of 2024.

Mullen's record is now 3-0. As for Doherty, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Mullen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Denver South on the 23rd. As for Doherty, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Douglas County at 4:00 p.m. on the 2nd.
