Softball Recap: Aquinas Victorious

Aquinas won the last time they faced Polk County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Monarchs walked away with a 6-2 win over the Slammers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.

Faith Samek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Bailee Hough was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Vandenberg, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Aquinas lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Aquinas' record now sits at 12-13. As for Polk County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Aquinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Polk County, they will host Pierce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Slammers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluejays have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
