Soccer Game Preview: Smithfield vs. East Greenwich + How To Watch

The Smithfield Sentinels are taking a road trip to face off against the East Greenwich Avengers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Smithfield is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Scituate just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to the Spartans. While losing is never fun, Smithfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island soccer rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Scituate are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Greenwich). They blew past Woonsocket 7-1 on Tuesday. Considering East Greenwich have won eight matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

East Greenwich is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those seven matchups. As for Smithfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1.
