Softball Recap: Rabun County Comes Up Short

If Rabun County was riding high fresh off their 19-9 takedown of Towns County on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Oglethorpe County Patriots by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 back in August.

River Evans made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madeline Suarez, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.

Rabun County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Oglethorpe County, their record now sits at 9-4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rabun County will venture away from home to take on North Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oglethorpe County, they will head out to face off against Commerce at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
