Softball Recap: Denver Comes Up Short

Denver and Hudson pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played Hudson, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Cyclones fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-9 defeat on Monday.

Denver has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hudson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Denver didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Union on the 17th. As for Hudson, they will square off against East Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
