Softball Game Preview: Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles vs. Liberty Raiders

The Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles will square off against the Liberty Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodrow Wilson will be strutting in after a victory while Liberty will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Woodrow Wilson was able to grind out a solid win over Nicholas County, taking the game 6-3.

Woodrow Wilson let Kacie Fraley and Fallyn Rakes run wild. Fraley got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Rakes went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssia Rhinehart, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Liberty's offense. They fell 3-0 to Midland Trail on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Woodrow Wilson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Woodrow Wilson skirted past Liberty 14-13 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Flying Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
