Softball Recap: McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers vs. Treutlen Vikings
McIntosh County Academy extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 8-17. They came up short against the Treutlen Vikings, falling 12-0. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.
As for Treutlen, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3. 12 seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
For Treutlen's part, Ella Roberson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Roberson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Taylor Gillis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maya Brinson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
