Recap: Avella Eagles vs. Mapletown Maples
The Avella Eagles lost against the Mapletown Maples back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Avella was outmatched by Mapletown on the road and fell 49-21. Avella has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Avella's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Frank, who scored eight points along with three steals, and Sydney Strope who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Strope is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Avella's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Mapletown, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Avella will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mapletown, they will head out on the road to face off against Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Geibel Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
