Softball Recap: O'neill Comes Up Short at Home Against St. Paul

O'Neill unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the St. Paul Wildcats on Thursday, falling 9-1. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Rylee Selby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, O'Neill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emerson Mlnarik, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

O'Neill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-3 win against Arlington on the 23rd. As for St. Paul, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-4 loss against Wilber-Clatonia on the 23rd.
