Basketball Recap: Ligonier Valley Comes Up Short

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-23, which was the final score in the Ligonier Valley Rams's tilt against the Geibel Catholic Gators on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Geibel Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Larkin, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. Larkin has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 29 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Henderson, who posted 19 points and six steals.

Ligonier Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Geibel Catholic, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ligonier Valley will host Avonworth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Avonworth's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Geibel Catholic, they will be playing at home against West Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Greene will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Geibel Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
