Baseball Recap: Flint River Academy Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Flint River Academy won the last time they faced Windsor Academy and things went their way on Friday too. Flint River Academy put the hurt on Windsor Academy with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Newman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Mason Jones was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was J. Stanton Pritchard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Flint River Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Windsor Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flint River Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lafayette Christian at 6:30 p.m. on April 7. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Flint River Academy 2.9, Lafayette Christian 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Windsor Academy will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. Central Fellowship Christian Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.14 runs per game on average), something Windsor Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
