Football Game Preview: Clovis Wildcats vs. Las Cruces Bulldawgs

Clovis hasn't had much luck against Las Cruces recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will host the Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. Clovis has given up an average of 40.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Clovis came up short against Carlsbad and fell 41-28. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly 13 points.

Meanwhile, Las Cruces strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Organ Mountain, posting a 55-0 win. Considering the Bulldawgs have won four matchups by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Las Cruces had a senior duo take command as Gunnar Guardiola threw for 259 yards and five TDs on perfect 13-for-13 passing and Francisco Winnikoff picked up 125 receiving yards and three scores. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Guardiola. Jacob Misquez was another key player, picking up 91 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Las Cruces, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Clovis was taken down by Las Cruces 55-3 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 49-3.
