Softball Recap: Fort Collins Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Fort Collins waltzed into their match on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Berthoud Spartans with a sharp 15-0 win. The Lambkins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Addison Yurt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ava Apodaca was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Cori Davis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Fort Collins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Fort Collins' record now sits at 10-2. As for Berthoud, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Collins will face off against Windsor at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berthoud, they will welcome Thompson Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
