Basketball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Troy Warriors

The Costa Mesa Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Troy Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Costa Mesa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Last Thursday, Costa Mesa came up short against Ocean View and fell 50-41. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Costa Mesa got top-tier performance from Emi Kamikihara, who posted 20 points and six rebounds. Leilani Quero was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Costa Mesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Troy took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-18 win over Fullerton. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Costa Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Troy, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-12.
