Soccer Game Preview: Sylmar vs. Van Nuys

The Sylmar Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Van Nuys Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sylmar's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Sylmar fell victim to Kennedy and their airtight defense back in December of 2024. They lost 3-0 to the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 687th, while the Cougars are ranked 234th).

Meanwhile, in Saturday's Canine Competition, Van Nuys had to take the L. They fell 2-0 to Highland last Saturday.

Van Nuys' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2-2. As for Sylmar, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.
