Basketball Game Preview: Mid Valley Spartans vs. Valley View Cougars

Mid Valley is 2-8 against Valley View since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mid Valley comes in on three and Valley View on eight.

Last Thursday, Mid Valley got the win against Lakeland by a conclusive 50-25. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Chiefs are ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). They claimed a resounding 70-20 victory over Carbondale Area. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Valley View pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Mid Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Mid Valley was taken down by Valley View 57-22 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Mid Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
