Smith Center took a 20-point defeat the last time they faced off against Phillipsburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redmen came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Friday, sneaking past 16-14. 16 seems to be a good number for the Redmen as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Smith Center has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points this season. As for Phillipsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Smith Center is set to take on their familiar foe Norton on Friday. Meanwhile, Phillipsburg will square off against rival Thomas More Prep-Marian on Friday.
