Softball Recap: El Reno Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

El Reno had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Santa Fe South Saints get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-0 on Thursday.

Zoey Pawnee made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Pawnee was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last seven matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brailynn Vickery, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Izzy Birdsong was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

El Reno always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

El Reno's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Santa Fe South, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the loss, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, El Reno will challenge Newcastle at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Racers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Santa Fe South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
