Basketball Recap: St. Bernard Takes a Loss

St. Bernard played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets 54-22. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the defeat, St. Bernard saw an underclassman step up: freshman Caylan Versher posted 11 points.

Michelle Canete continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sacred Heart of Jesus, putting up 21 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That's the most points Canete has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Gizelle Valencia, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

St. Bernard's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Sacred Heart of Jesus, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-16.

As of now, neither St. Bernard nor Sacred Heart of Jesus have any future games scheduled.
