Baseball Game Preview: Flint River Academy Wildcats vs. Crawford County Eagles

The Flint River Academy Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Crawford County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Crawford County will be up against a hot Flint River Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Flint River Academy put the hurt on Atlanta Jewish Academy with a sharp 17-7 win on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ethan Newman looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Mason Jones was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Sullivan Jones was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Flint River Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Crawford County was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Marion County. The victory continues a trend for Crawford County in their matchups with Marion County: they've now won seven in a row.

Flint River Academy pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Crawford County, their record now sits at 9-5.

Flint River Academy beat Crawford County 17-12 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flint River Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
