Basketball Recap: Burroughs Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

If Hesperia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Burroughs, they should've done a better job of containing Jhavmine Ave. The Burroughs Burros pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over the Hesperia Scorpions on Thursday thanks in part to Ave, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Burroughs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Hesperia, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burroughs will host Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Burroughs likes a good challenge. As for Hesperia, they will challenge Apple Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
