Softball Recap: Ponderosa Falls Short of Palmer Ridge in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ponderosa can now relate to. They fell just short of the Palmer Ridge Bears by a score of 9-7 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since September 26th.

Abby Dietz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Avery Britt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ponderosa's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-14. As for Palmer Ridge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Ponderosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmer Ridge, they will square off against Pueblo Central at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
