Football Game Preview: Conway Springs Cardinals vs. South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] Outlaws

The Conway Springs Cardinals will take on the South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] Outlaws at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Conway Springs will be strutting in after a win while South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Conway Springs needed a bit of extra time to put away Ellinwood. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 17-14. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Logan Osner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 175 yards and a pair of TDs. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Conway Springs is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

Osner was just one part of a punishing run game: Conway Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. The Cardinals are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Conway Springs' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Bryson Lange and Ethan Partika, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Sterling 75-33. The Outlaws were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-21.

South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Conway Springs, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Conway Springs took their victory against South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 42-20 score. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Outlaws turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
