Northwest Suburban recap October 8, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Coon Rapids, who took down 70th ranked Anoka, 13-10.

Elk River was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 12th to 10th in Northwest Suburban. The Elks defeated Robbinsdale Armstrong 50-23 earlier in the week.

*Alex Copa was a beast in the backfield as Blaine beat Champlin Park.

Copa was a passing and rushing force as the Bengals beat the Rebels. He completed 12 passes for 101 yards and also ran for 235 yards. Copa's favorite target this week was Josh Browne, who caught 2 passes for 43 yards.

Chris Larson was the best receiver in the league this week as Andover lost to Totino-Grace. Larson tallied 5 receptions for 76 yards. Justin Freyholtz helped Andover's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 56 yards.

The Huskies' Connor Wilkie and Larson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Wilkie has thrown for 1,501 yards this season, while Larson has 36 catches for 853 yards. Kez Flomo from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 764 yards.

At the moment, the Cardinals are in seventh, while Maple Grove is in first.

The Crimson added to the longest winning streak in Northwest Suburban this week by beating Centennial, 32-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the Maple Grove.
