Basketball Recap: Irvine Sets Scoring Season-High Against University

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Irvine). They blew past the University Trojans 61-35 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Vaqueros have posted since November 21, 2024.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christine Lin, who posted 12 points and six boards. What's more, Lin also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Taylor Peace was another key player, putting up four points.

Irvine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for University, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Irvine will head out to square off against Northwood at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Irvine is facing Northwood at the right time seeing as Northwood is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for University, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-26 loss against Marina on the 18th.
