Basketball Game Preview: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Firebaugh Eagles

Dos Palos hasn't had much luck against Firebaugh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dos Palos Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Firebaugh Eagles at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Dos Palos took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Tranquillity 51-24. The Broncos pushed the score to 41-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Dos Palos found their leader in freshman Brionte Neal, who posted 20 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Neal has scored at least a third of Dos Palos' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Athena Correa, who had 12 points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Firebaugh's strategy against Avenal on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Firebaugh blew Avenal out of the water with a 43-7 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Firebaugh has also been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Dos Palos, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Dos Palos took a serious blow against Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in January, falling 65-19. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dos Palos was down 45-11.
