Basketball Game Preview: Durham Trojans vs. Portola Tigers

Durham has won four straight games at home, while Portola has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Durham Trojans will host the Portola Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Durham was able to grind out a solid win over Willows, taking the game 58-48. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Honkers: they've now won four in a row.

Durham relied on the efforts of Kyleigh Flux, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 17 points, and Ava Bunch, who went 5-for-11 en route to 16 points. Karla Rangel was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Portola over Maxwell in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Portola blew Maxwell out of the water with a 62-25 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Portola has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Durham, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
