Football Recap: Estancia Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Estancia had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Loving Falcons on Friday, falling 42-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 49-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Devon Chavez threw for 69 yards on eight of 21 attempts. Quintin Barela was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Loving to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bobby Parraz, who rushed for 94 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards Parraz has posted since back in September of 2024. Tristen Onsurez was another key signal caller, throwing for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estancia will host Eunice at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Loving, they will welcome New Mexico Military Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
