Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Johnson Warriors
The Valley Vikings can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They managed a 49-44 victory over Johnson. The victory was just what Valley needed coming off of a 63-21 loss in their prior matchup.
Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Almetrea Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Valley's points. Shonti Whiteside was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Johnson, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
Valley will head out on the road to challenge Florin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Florin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Johnson, they will be playing at home against West Campus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Campus is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
