Softball Recap: Brush Has No Trouble Against Fountain-Fort Carson

Brush got themselves on the board against Fountain-Fort Carson on Saturday, but Fountain-Fort Carson never followed suit. They blew past the Trojans 10-0. Ten seems to be a good number for the Beetdiggers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Elizabeth Peckham, who gave up just four hits to keep Fountain-Fort Carson off the board. Peckham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Gracie Martinez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Jada Shum was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Brush was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .421 or higher in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Brush's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Brush will venture away from home to challenge Mountain Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will be taking part in a tournament against Rangeview at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
