Basketball Recap: Golden West Comes Up Short

Golden West lost against Monache back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Golden West Trailblazers were outmatched by the Monache Marauders and fell 77-15. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 898th, while the Marauders are ranked 57th).

Monache was led to victory by London Haynes and Milly Rojas. Haynes dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Rojas went 9 for 18 on her way to 20 points and seven steals. The game was Rojas' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyah Bartlett, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Golden West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Monache, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Golden West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 21-13 loss against Foothill on the 18th. Monache has also already played their next game, a 65-62 defeat against St. Joseph on the 18th.
