Basketball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

Hilltop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 64-32 loss at the hands of the Otay Ranch Mustangs. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in January of 2018.

It was another big night for Maleah Porch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals for Otay Ranch. The dominant performance gave Porch a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Elisa Cruz, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Otay Ranch, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

Hilltop will head out on the road to face off against Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Otay Ranch, they will be playing at home against Chula Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
