Recap: Scotts Valley Falcons vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals
After flying high against the Harbor Pirates last Tuesday, the Scotts Valley Falcons came back down to earth. Scotts Valley fell 37-30 to the Cardinals on Friday. Scotts Valley has struggled against the Cardinals recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Scotts Valley saw an underclassman step up: Brooklyn Williams scored 12 points.
Santa Cruz's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kina Espinosa, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tiera Oconnor, who scored 14 points along with seven steals.
Scotts Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Santa Cruz, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scotts Valley will face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Cruz, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aptos will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
