Softball Recap: Scottsbluff Extends Winning Streak to Three

Scottsbluff extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 5-2. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 15-14 W against the Chadron Cardinals. That's two games straight that the Bearcats have won by just one run.

Danielle Watters got the start for Scottsbluff and what a start it was: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Scottsbluff got a massive performance out of Kayla Lilley, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave Lilley a new career-high. Kiera Sarchet was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Scottsbluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Chadron, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (ten), they still had to take the loss.

On Chadron's side, Cali Hendrickson and Addisyn Gruver stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hendrickson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Gruver went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Gruver has hit this season.

Looking ahead, Scottsbluff will head out to face off against Alliance on Tuesday. Chadron has already played their next contest (against Bayard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
