Basketball Recap: Nordhoff Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hueneme last Friday, Nordhoff came back down to earth. The Nordhoff Rangers received a blow on Friday as they fell 60-46 to the Simi Valley Pioneers. The Rangers have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Nordhoff still got an impressive performance from Cadence Renshaw, who went 10 of 22 on her way to 22 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Ramirez, who posted 14 points.

Nordhoff's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Simi Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

Nordhoff and Simi Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Nordhoff (ranked 789th) will meet Parlier (ranked 353rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Simi Valley will challenge Immaculate Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 428 places (607 vs. 179).
