Baseball Recap: Taylor County's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

After flying high against Central Fellowship Christian Academy last Tuesday, Taylor County came back down to earth. The Taylor County Vikings came up short against the Lamar County Trojans on Thursday, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Vikings were not able to get on the board.

With the defeat, Taylor County broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lamar County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor County will challenge Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Taylor County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Central Fellowship Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lamar County, they will take on Callaway at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Callaway will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lamar County surely won't give up without a fight.
