Football Recap: Cloudcroft Takes a Loss

Cloudcroft extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were dealt a 52-0 loss at the hands of Fort Sumner/House. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Fort Sumner/House are ranked second).

As for Fort Sumner/House, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.1 points on average this season.

Fort Sumner/House's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AJ Lucero, who rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Lucero a new career-high. Tra'Von Bonds was in the mix too, providing Fort Sumner/House with two scores.

Cloudcroft wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 50-0 defeat against Menaul on the 24th. As for Fort Sumner/House, they have also already played their next game, a 46-12 win against Escalante on the 24th.
